Marshall Lake

Fishing and Relaxing at Marshall Lake

This is our camp and Dad is just sitting in the shade for a bit. I said you just sit still and I will take your picture to prove you relaxed a bit. Dad pulled the camper with the black pickup and I pulled the boat with the blue pickup - - - Marshall Lake is fairly close and so it makes a good camping trip without having to travel far. I wasn't too sure about pulling the boat but it was a breeze and I just followed Dad wherever he went. I learned a lot on this trip and Dad is a good teacher.

This is where Dad is baiting his line getting ready to cast out. The area is so peaceful and beautiful. Marshall Lake is about 1 1/2 hrs. from our house up through Newport and along the Pend 'Oreille River. They don't allow any water skiing or jet skis on the lake and the max you can go is 5 mph. very peaceful and mostly used for fishing and a few swimmers.

We camped Friday night through Sunday afternoon. Sunday we just sat in the shade on the bank and read and talked and watched a few people go out in their boats. The lake has only Cutthroat fish 6-12 inches or maybe a little longer. The campground is pretty much natural with bushes inbetween sites. Anyway, we just went for the fun of it and I especially felt Dad needed a break. It's a little bit of work setting up the trailer and camp but once you are there it's wonderful. We love our camper conveniences and this trip we actually decided on a name for our boat - - - - Lil' Putt.

My fish

This is my fish. I was reeling in my line because we were going to try a different area of the lake and I caught him.
Dad took out the hook though!! I wanted to put him back in and save him, but Dad said no, we are keeping him.

Mom Fishing

I was really fearful to begin with but had so much faith in Dad that he would drive safe.
He said just enjoy it and pretend it's a big
ferry. Our little fishing boat works great and it was so much fun riding around the lake and fishing with it. We went out about 2 hours - from 11 to 1 pm and then went back to the trailer for lunch and a nap. Fishing is hard work.

More fishing fun

Just waiting for the fish to bite. We waited a long time. After talking to a fellow that is familiar with the lake we found out we weren't using the right bait - - Anyway, how did we know any different. It was still fun riding the boat and watching Dad put the nightcrawler on my hook!!

Fishing fun

Dad is running the boat and we are going about
5 mi. an hour at the most. The law of the lake
is only that fast and that's about what our
motor does. We went almost to the end of the lake trying our best to catch a fish. It's a hard decision as to whether it was "relaxing" or
"work". Anyway, it was "fun"

Relaxing and reading

Marshall Lake

This is a picture Dad took Sunday morning of the serene beauty of the lake and surrounding mountains. The water, as you can see, was very still and once in awhile you could see a fish jump and make round ripples in the water.

This is the bridge that goes over to Havermale Island. We were crossing over and stopped to just admire the power and strength of the Falls. It was just a beautful day here. Bloomsday frills and follies were over and the park was pretty much quiet this time of the day.

Here I am standing on the bridge above the roaring falls. They were spectacular and very noisy. We had a hard time talking to each other until we got over to the other side of the bridge. The spray wasn't coming up on our faces today but it was still very beautiful. We live in such a beautiful city and the river is just one part that makes it that way.

YEA - W'ERE FINALLY ONE YEAR OLD

Present time is just getting under way. It was really fun to watch the little guys - they weren't what you call "excited" but just interested and liked the wrapping paper especially.

Evan and Davis reading a birthday card

Davis is learning how to open presents and tear the paper and eat it. Everything has to be tasted and inspected first. It was nice how each little family had their "space" on the floor and opened their gifts very carefully. Each little boy seemed to have fun with each gift - and then was ready to get the next one and pull at the paper and the bow.

More Birthday fun

Scott, Grant, Avery and Bodee all wondering what is in the big box. It was a little 4 wheeler for Bodee - but Avery really liked it too and tried it out in the living room. Earlier in the day, the boys had been in the back yard and Av somehow (who knows) got wet. Later that day I went outside and found the little trike in the pond plus part of the Sit and Spin. hmmmmm What can I say only that boys sure seem to have fun.

GRANDMA'S 102 BIRTHDAY PARTY

This is Ruth just stopping by to wish Grandma a happy birthday and pat her hand. She lives on the same hall and is such a sweet little lady.

GRANDMA'S 102 BIRTHDAY

It is birthday time again. Dad and I were the only ones that could go to Grandma's today. Too bad - but everyone was either sick, or busy or out of the country. We had a nice time though and it was fun serving everyone birthday cake.

This is Whitney holding Grandma's cake. She is a really nice Aid that works with Grandma.

I'm not sure what Grandma is thinking - probably "just cut it and feed me"!! She did say it was sure pretty.
