Made it

New arches are being formed and old ones destroyed.   The area is a virtual layer cake of
rock miles thick, a celebration of sandstones, mudstones, shales, salts and limestones all stacked
one upon another.  Each layer represents a different environment that existed here in the past.  Limestone might indicate the presence of an inland sea.  Sandstone is wind-blown sand dunes, shale contains the relics of a swampy river floodplain ruled by dinosaurs and giant trees. -  that's our earth - forever changing.

Taking the Hike

Walking to the Windows in Arches.  It's a little crazy on the trail but just going slow and easy was my motto.Sandstone is dangerous, it crumbles and breaks easily.  The trails were pretty good but when the steps were a little high for me I took off to the side where it was a little more slanted walking.
You do it because at the end it is a beautiful view and you have "achieved".  In all of these pictures you need to zoom to get the beauty of the picture I think.

This is our next stop

Going to the Windows in Arches

Dad's Hike in Arches at Park Avenue

Guess I need to post a few pictures of the trip.
This is in Arches, our first stop, where Dad took
his hike.  If you zoom in you can see people
down there.  The hike goes through that hole back there where the single rock is standing.   (I waited at the top for him) I thought he would hike back the same way and meet me at the top but he called me on the cell and said - no, he was going around the rock and to meet him at the next viewpoint.  I actually was getting a little anxious when he didn't come back up the trail.   (miscommunication) I actually had a good time sitting and listening to the ranger guide talk to people.

Grape Saturday

This is what we did today - picking and juicing the grapes.     We figured the grapes produced about
60 gallon of picked grapes.  Dad and I got 20 qts.  and the rest went to others - Erin, Dennis, Cory and a man that lives down the street.  He actually walks his dog in the field and saw the grapes and asked if we weren't going to pick that maybe he could pick the ones on the field side. His note was on our door when we got back from our trip.  So Dad called him and said he could pick those.   This is the best year yet for the grapes.    What a blessing for all of us.
Cory, Grant, Scott and Scott's friend came to
pick this morning.

Moab Campground

Gavan's Ride

Gavan getting orientation on riding the bucking
bronco.   He stayed on the whole time. I think
Andy has a video of this.  It was cool and we all cheered for him.  He was darn brave

More rides

Papa taking Logan for a cycle ride.
Actually for the ride I think Logan was
on the back hanging tight.

Driving Fun

Andy and  Finn taking a drive with these fun
little buggy cars.

A Pumpkin Christmas Tree

This was at Thanksgiving Point and I think they were fake
pumpkins all carved with different faces.

Snoozing in the Haystack

We all went to  Thanksgiving Point to Cornbelly's
Halloween celebration.  It was totally the best time I have had for Halloween.   Hundreds of games and rides and things for kids to do.  This one was Papa's favorite.   He's not really like this all of the time - just when the camera is shooting.    What a funny guy.  It was kind of cold thus we have coats on.

Lunch with Nana

I promised Logan he could have lunch in the trailer wtih me and of course I kept my word.  He wouldn't let me forget.   Here he is ringing the dinner bell with the ever so popular Pb & j sandwichs.
This is while we were parked in Kristi and Ben's large driveway.  Boy,that came in handy.  Thanks Kris for letting us use it as our campground.

The Pumpkin Patch Kids

I called Erin to bring the kids over to pick out their pumpkins before the frost comes.  They had a glorious
time picking and choosing.  It's quite a job , course we didn't have a big field full like Greenbluff but they
had a good time anyway.  This is Bodee's little friend (Kree) not sure how to spell her name.  She got a
pumpkin too.   It happened to be cowboy dress up day at preschool today so that is why those two are
dressed up.  We have had beautiful weather lately and today was just perfect.   I am glad the kids had
fun while they were here.   Erin, you can post your pictures too - they are probably better than mine.
Please, please.    Thanks for coming over - it was really fun.    She picked up the steamer because she
has three boxes of grapes coming in this weekend.   Have fun with the grapes!!

Picking Pumpkins

Picking flowers

Erin had a nice, large bouquet by the time she
got her flowers picked.  I hate to see the frost
come and kill them.  They just are so colorful this year.
