This is Kristi and Mom with our tea party hats.

The Ladies and their Hats

Here we are sitting at our table waiting to be served. The lady in charge was gracious and took our picture.

Just Some Johnson Kids

We held a bbq buffet to just get everyone together while Kristi and Mindy were here. Hamburgers, hot dogs, salads were the main items to eat. A little later in the evening, after dinner had settled, Dad made scones and we ate and ate. Nothing like a hot scone with Wyoming honey on it.

Weekend at Rockaway Beach

Here we are, finally. A beach weekend. These next few photos were taken by Mindy so I stole them from her for my blog. Hope that's okay Mindy.
We are keeping warm on the beach. It was so windy - a light coat felt good. Seems like we are good at finding a bench to sit awhile. This was in town by an ice cream store. We didn't get ice cream though - it was more like a "hot soup" day.
This is Dad flying our kite. And, me and Dad in town by an ice cream store - - - every town has to have ice cream!

Rockaway Beach

This is the steam engine that pulls the train for the train excursion. And, Mindy and I were shopping around in one of the little gift/antique shops.

The Rockaway Beach Weekend

This was such a fun weekend. We rented a little beach house at Rockaway Beach, Oregon. It was furnished with everything - all we needed to do is bring our food. There were just enough bedrooms for each of us - even Davis had his little bedroom. They supplied toys, dvd's, firewood for the fireplace, towels for the beach and beach toys too, towels for the shower and even lots of games and books to read. What more could you ask for? ( some sun). We did have a few splashes of sun and lots of wind and tons of sand. Dad and I drove to Mindy's on Thursday night and spent the night at the Best Western Hotel in Sandy. We got up early Friday and drove to the beach via Tillamook Oregon. We moved in and loaded the fridge with food stuff. The little house is just across the street from the beach so it was really close for walking. This beach is not one that is crowded too much like Cannon or Seaside and that was really nice. We took a walk into the town area where there are small gift shops and stores. There is also a steam train that does 1 1/2 hour run twice a day. We didn't do the train ride because it was just not warm enough to ride in open air cars. Friday night we settled in and watched the opening olympic ceremonies. Both days we spent a lot of time on the beach, flying the kite, playing with sand toys & looking for shells. This was something I have always wanted to do and finally did - thanks Mindy and Evan for coming with us. Here's their link: http://www.oregon101.com/pacificescape.html

Where's my Toes?

Our First Stop

This was our first stop - the cheese factory. There is an upstairs viewing area where you watch them make and wrap the cheese. They also sell ice cream cones with all flavors of Tillamook ice cream. It was good to get out of the car and walk around for a bit.

Cows are for riding???

At the Tillamook Cheese Factory there were these cow statues. We weren't sure you were allowed to sit your kids on them, but we did - - thus the look on Mindy's face. Hurry and snap the picture Mom!!!

Beach Acitivities

Dad loves to golf at the beach. Mindy is flying the kite. With all of the wind we had it was perfect for kite flying.

Time to Read

This was taken on Saturday. Without any work to do, or jobs to bid, Dad had lots of tme to catch up on his reading. This is the living room looking into the kitchen area of the beach house.

A Geo Cache Moment

Dad had never done a geo cache find so Mindy found one close by the beach and we ventured off to find it. It was a "tool Box" cache and Davis picked his prize and we put in some finger nail clippers to replace it.

Look What We Found

We found this gross, huge snail in the grass. Evan very heroically picked it up and attempted to have Davis pet it - - to no avail. I petted it though and it wasn't really all that bad. It just looks gross is all.

How to Pump

I think Mindy was showing Davis how you pump to make your swing go higher.

At Cannon Beach

On our way back to Sandy, we stopped by Cannon Beach. This is the beach that has the famous "Haystack Rock". We played on the playground and then had a clam chowder dinner at Mac's. It was very good. We also walked down the beach for a ways.

Fun Times in the Sand

We had such a fun time at the beach. Mindy loved getting right into the sand and helping Davis have fun too. It was overcast and windy but we did our best to still have a lot of family fun. Dad was sitting on the sand doing a video with his camera while I did my own video.

Playing in the Sand

Mindy was digging so hard and Davis was playing and having so much fun in the sand that he couldn't contain himself. Notice Mindy has taken her sweatshirt off now and is having a fun time with Davis.
